I’ve learned a lot about vegetables working with Goma Greens. I’m a native of Ohio. Toledo specifically. Which isn’t known for its diverse vegetable market. Carrots, potatoes, tomatoes… no problem. Trendier vegetables make their way to the Glass City as well but aren’t usually stocked in the normal grocery store. Or maybe I never paid attention. I don’t know.

One example of a trendy yet tasty vegetable is Kohlrabi. Christina from Goma Greens was so excited about it and I was like… kohl what?? Kohlrabi!

Since I wasn’t familiar with it, she assumed that others wouldn’t be as well so she set me on a mission to create a recipe that people will love. She steered me towards a recipe for Kohlrabi Fritters that we both agreed looked heavenly!

First, what does Kohlrabi taste like? Kind of like a turnip or radish and is a member of the cabbage family. Weird I know, but it’s actually really good. I did a few things with it that I’ll share with you later this week and next. For each recipe everyone in who tried it loved it!

The biggest hit though was these 15 Minute Kohlrabi Fritters!

My kids gobbled them up in record time! They had no idea the fritters contained such a strange vegetable! The addition of the Indian-eqsue spices really complimented the mild spiciness of the kohlrabi and the carrots added the perfect level of sweetness. Together all of the flavors worked so well together!
