I went to Carrefour today to buy a turkey for Thanksgiving. Carrefour is a French supermarket that caters to the 25+ million Chinese here in Shanghai. While the expat  population in the city is substantial it’s not a drop in the bucket when compared to the locals.  Only in China will you experience a scene like what I saw today.

As I was strolling throug the poultry section I was shocked as local Chinese picked at and grabbed chicken to be weighed and packaged from a large refrigerator. No tongs. No gloves. Just their bare hands. Don’t believe me?

Carrefour is a real lifesaver! They do have western things at the gubei location so it makes cooking here easier. I just can't get over some of the crazy things there!

家乐福我爱你! Nearly died without Carrefour in China, real bread and some good Italian sauces. Expat must have is a 家乐福
