Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of years, juicing has become a very popular trend in healthy eating and living. Here in Shanghai, FSJuice introduced the city to the juicing market with different flavours of cold-pressed, kombucha and NFC juices. They use only fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers or imported which translates to a better and fresher flavour than you’d get with ordinary juice.
FS offers four kinds of juices including one that is especially designed to give children the nutrients they need to keep them healthy. (Of course adults can enjoy it too!)
Their most popular juice type is cold-pressed. Cold-pressed juicing is quite different from the regular juicing you do at home with a centrifugal based machine. Those machines remove much of the fruit and vegetable’s valuable nutrients, while the cold-pressing method extracts the vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other vital elements, keeping the integrity of the raw products completely intact. In this way, they have 4 times more nutrients than pasteurised juices. You can learn more about cold-pressed juices on their website.
They also carries 3 different flavours of Kombucha Tea, a fermented drink consisting of tea and bacterial cultures.
There is another excellent option for juicing. NFC (not from concentrate), FSJuice’s newest line of juices and they are absolutely delicious! The fruits and vegetables are pressed to release their natural juices and bottled right away to ensure their freshness. They’re made with 100% fruit and vegetable juice with no aded sugar, preservatives or water. An extra bonus? 28 day shelf life!
Juicing isn’t for everyone, so FS has developed some fantastic recipe ideas using their juices. This way, you can still get the essential nutrients and a new flavour dimension from the juices when you use them in place of water or milk in various recipes. Substituting juice is also a great idea for people with lactose issues or dairy allergies.
FSJuice sent me four NFC juices to try and make a few recipes with. My favourite, the Beets and Strawberry Juice is deliciously refreshing straight out of the bottle. It’s not too sweet and you can’t taste the beet juice, so if you’re unsure about vegetables in your fruit juice don’t worry about that.
Their nutritionist has come up with the perfect breakfast recipe using Beets and Strawberry Juice. You simply replace the milk with juice and refrigerate the oatmeal overnight. In the morning you’ll have a healthy and nutritious bowl oatmeal ready to go! I added together all of the ingredients and then refrigerated the mixture, however, you could leave out the yogurt during the overnight process and just top your breakfast with a dollop before you eat it. In the end the recipe was so easy to make, and absolutely scrumptious. I can’t wait to make it again with the Pineapple and Apple Juice! Perfect summer wake me up!
