This recipe for Kaya Coconut Caramel Jam Frosting was a hit in my house! A jar of Kaya 浓意 Coconut Jam’s Kaya Coconut Caramel Jam makes a basic cream cheese frosting recipe extra scrumptious! Enjoy it spread over vanilla or chocolate cake.
The best part of living overseas are the cross-cultural experiences. No where is that more so than in Shanghai, China. With over 20 million people in this city, you’ll meet people from all over the world, and if you’re lucky enough, get the chance to try some of their cuisine. You would think in a city this big you could find everything, but that’s definitely not the case. There is a lot of missing ethnic restaurants here and it’s not always easy to find the food that you love most from your home country.
For Kaya 浓意 Coconut Jam, it all started when the owner had a craving for Kaya Jam- a “wildly popular Southeast Asian food spread or fruit curd made from a base of coconut milk, eggs and sugar.” You can spread it on toast, stirred into your yogurt or add it to a cake for a coconut flavor. So in 2016, Kaya 浓意 Coconut Jam began selling their jars of coconut goodness.
That’s exactly what I did with my jar of Kaya 浓意 Coconut Jam, Kaya Coconut Caramel Jam. The taste was very unique to me. As an American, our jams tend to be a lot sweeter, however Kaya Jam has a subtle sweetness and a rich creamy texture. Just like the jam traditional served in Southeast Asia, the flavors are lovely on a slice of toast. I can’t wait to try it with yogurt too- but I used up my jar on the toast and for this incredibly scrumptious recipe.
After tasting the Caramel Coconut Jam I thought of a few things I could do with it other than enjoy it straight out of the jar (don’t judge me! You’ll feel the same way when you try it!) Kaya’s products are special and anything this special has got to be the star of the dish. That’s why I chose to make a Kaya Caramel Coconut Jam Frosting to cover a simple vanilla cake, but as my friend noted, Wow! This would taste so good on chocolate cake too! You’ve really got to try Kaya 浓意 Coconut Jam’s Kaya Coconut Caramel Jam Frosting! It will totally take your boring cakes to the next level!
Kaya 浓意 Coconut Jam’s are made in Shanghai using only the highest quality ingredients (and that shows in the taste of the Coconut Caramel Jam). Each jar is 150ml and is only 38RMB and can be delivered all over China! The jam will stay good in the refrigerator for up to 2 months after opening it.
