Artisan Natural Yoghurt: Thick, rich and delicious! Exactly how good yoghurt should taste!
There are a few foods in China that I struggle to find good quality sources to satisfy my cravings. For that reason I’ve stopped looking for them, and taught myself to make the many foods that I just cannot find here. One food that I love dearly but have struggled to find is yogurt. I’m really picky about my yogurt. I do not drink milk, the taste of it disgusts me to be honest, so when I eat a yogurt that has a “milky” taste I start to gag… It’s not a pretty sight.
For that reason, I worked on perfecting making my own yogurt at home. I’ve tweaked the recipe over the years and love what I make at home. A few months ago at a visit to Jiashan Market with Molly, she told me to go over to the guy with the yogurt and try it. Skeptical, I went over and tried a spoonful and let me jus tell you it was delicious. Thick, smooth, rich and just tart enough for my picky palate. I was hooked!
So, let me Introduce to you (Recipe Nomad approved) Artisan Natural Yoghurt. They make yoghurt the old fashioned way- no high tech machines or industrial size vats.
The company sell a variety of unique flavours based on what’s in season, as well as Plain Yoghurt and Soya Yoghurt for those with milk allergy or aversions. Each flavour is rich and bursting with flavour. So far I’ve tried the plain, Ginger and Orange Blossom, Vanilla, Seasonal Cherry and the Soya. If you twisted my arm and forced me to pick my favourite I would have to say the Ginger and Orange, with the Seasonal Cherry at a close second. While cherry is not currently available, Artisan Yoghurts newest flavour, Blueberry and Vanilla is a hit among their customers. I’ll definitely have to order some of that soon!
I can’t tell you the secret to how they get their yoghurt so thick, but you could always sign up for one of Artisan Natural Yoghurt’s yoghurt making class and learn the tricks yourself.
Plain yoghurt starts at a very reasonable 16RMB per 150ml to 70RMB per liter. Feeling adventurous? Try their flavoured yoghurts as well which start at 20RMB per 150ml to 92RMB per litre. Soya on the other hand is 22RMB to 95RMB depending on the size.
If you love thick and delicious yoghurt I highly recommend that you check out Artisan Natural Yoghurts.
